Govt bans sand mining at Mele and Teouma Bay

THE government has banned sand mining at Mele Beach and Teouma Bay. The total ban was imposed earlier this month by the Lands and Natural Resources Minister Alfred Maoh. It has now been gazetted. The total, indefinite ban is to be enforced by police who now have the power to arrest anyone removing sand from those two locations.
